What is PM Surya Ghar?
PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is the Government of India's flagship scheme to help households install rooftop solar and cut their electricity bills — in many cases, down to zero.
The government pays a portion of your system cost directly as a subsidy, called Central Financial Assistance (CFA). The rest can be financed through a collateral-free loan. Solvo handles the paperwork, DISCOM coordination, and installation so you don't have to navigate the process alone.
Are you eligible?
- You own the home (or have the owner's consent) where the system will be installed
- You have a valid electricity connection with a distribution company (DISCOM)
- Your roof has enough shadow-free area for the system size you need
- The connection is residential — commercial and institutional buildings follow a separate track
- No rooftop solar subsidy has already been claimed on this connection
Subsidy amount by system size
Subsidy (CFA) is paid at ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, and ₹18,000 per kW for the next 1 kW — capped at ₹78,000 regardless of system size beyond 3 kW.

How the application works
Portal registration
Sign up on the national PM Surya Ghar portal with your consumer number and DISCOM details.
DISCOM approval
Your DISCOM reviews and approves technical feasibility for your address.
Choose your vendor
Select an empanelled installer and finalize your system design and quote.
Installation
Certified crew installs ALMM-listed panels and balance-of-system components.
Net-metering
DISCOM installs a net meter and commissions the system after inspection.
Subsidy disbursed
Once commissioning is confirmed, subsidy is credited via DBT to your bank account.
Documents you'll need
- Aadhaar card (identity proof)
- Recent electricity bill (proof of DISCOM connection)
- Proof of home ownership, or NOC from the owner
- Bank account details, for DBT subsidy credit
- Passport-size photograph
Realistic timeline
Typically 2–4 months end to end — this varies significantly by state and DISCOM workload.
