How much does rooftop solar cost?
Cost depends on system size and site conditions, but after the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, a typical residential system's net cost is significantly lower than the sticker price — see our subsidy guide for exact CFA amounts. We provide a free, no-obligation quote after your site survey.
Do solar panels work on cloudy days?
Yes — panels still generate electricity in diffused daylight, though output is lower than on clear days. Over a full year, cloudy and rainy periods are already factored into the daily-unit estimates in our kW guide.
What maintenance does a rooftop system need?
Rooftop solar needs very little maintenance — mainly periodic panel cleaning, since dust reduces output, and an annual inspection. Solvo's O&M plans cover both.
What happens during a power cut?
Standard grid-tied systems without a battery automatically shut off during a grid outage, for safety — this is a regulatory requirement so the grid isn't fed power while utility crews are working on it. Battery backup is available as an add-on if you need power during outages.
How long do panels last?
Panels typically carry a 25-year performance warranty from the manufacturer, with output degrading only slightly — about 0.5% per year — over that period. Inverters typically carry a shorter warranty of 5–10 years and may need replacement once in the system's lifetime.
Can I install solar if I live in an apartment?
PM Surya Ghar and net-metering are designed around individual home connections. For apartments and societies, a separate group net-metering / RWA process applies — reach out and we'll walk you through it.
How is roof area related to subsidy eligibility?
There's no separate roof-area rule for the subsidy — eligibility depends on your connection type and system size (see our subsidy guide). Roof area only determines how large a system you can physically fit.
What if I want to sell my house later?
Rooftop solar is generally considered a value-add rather than a liability — the system, its remaining warranty, and lower running costs typically transfer with the property.
